Ross Graham loving the experience
Wednesday, 25th Aug 2021“I got into the team and have done alright but there is still a long way to go in the season. I have a point to prove and I am looking forward to the rest of it.”
On loan Dundee United defender Ross Graham has played every minute of Dunfermline’s seven matches this season. Not counted in those 630 minutes are the thirteen in the aborted match at Stark’s Park last Friday. The 20 year old from Blairgowrie described that match as a really strange experience:-
“Nobody knew what was happening really until the officials came out and told us. Especially after the last couple of weeks we felt that we had a point to prove on Friday and I felt that we hit the ground running from minute one.
“We were the far better side for however long was played, we started really well and we were starting to grow into the game. I think that you have a point to prove in every game. You have to turn up with the right attitude and mentality in every game you play.
“We felt that we had a good chance of taking all three points away from Raith and we will go into this next game with the same mindset fighting for three points. The boys are buzzing for Saturday now and I am looking forward to it.”
Arbroath arrive at East End Park on the back of a good 3-1 home win over Partick Thistle and undefeated in their last three matches after drawing against both Ayr United and St Johnstone. Ross predicted a competitive match:-
“We know what Arbroath are like, they will fight for everything. We know that we will have to be right bang at it and we are sure that we will be come Saturday.
After on loan periods in the previous two seasons at Elgin City in League One and Cove Rangers in League One, Ross’ loan deal to bring him to Dunfermline was struck on 1st July with the objective of gaining experience from game time at Championship level. That is already well on its way and “it has all been positive so far,” claimed the young Dundee United defender:-
“The club is always in touch with me and the management team here. Brian Grant, the loans manager oversees all the loan players so I’m in regular contact with him. He is always on the phone asking about us and how our games went. He will get to games and if he can’t get to games he will sit back, watch it and then feedback to me from that.”
The name of Ross Graham would appear to be one of the first on the team sheet and he takes that as a demonstration of trust that Peter Grant has in him:-
“I have loved every minute of it, training, the boys, the games, it has been really enjoyable and I am settling in well.
“I think I have applied myself well. I was up for the challenge when I first came here. I got into the team and have done alright but there is still a long way to go in the season. I have a point to prove and I am looking forward to the rest of it.”
