Pars can have Fan Power
Wednesday, 25th Aug 2021“The expectation here is to win and you want that expectation to get more and more so you get more and more people in here. To do that, the bottom line is that you have to win games of football.”
This Saturday East End Park welcomes back supporters of both sides for the first time since Queen of the South were the visitors on 7th March 2020.
Manager Peter Grant is pleased that the stands will be filled again and knows that it is the team’s responsibility to respond and entertain the supporters:-
“People say you have a big support to come and give you a lift but we are the guys who are paid to go and give them a lift. We are the ones who are paid to go and entertain them. They have paid their hard earned money to come and watch us.
“We were delighted with the numbers who came to support us on Friday evening, we are pleased with the way we started the game for sure.
“I know what the Dunfermline fans demand, that is why you are at a club that wants to get back into the Premierleague, all these things because you have that fan base.
“When you are playing at big clubs they have a demand on you and that demand is to entertain and give them maximum effort. We know if we play well and have a work ethic with all that drive and determination, you will always get the backing here.
“I have played against it often enough so I know what it is like. You had to try and keep it quiet, so that is what we were determined to do as an opponent. I know what it is like when you have them on song and you have got them fired up. It is then very very difficult to hold that tide back.
“As I say we were pleased with the first ten to fifteen minutes but we have always got to remember that it was just ten to fifteen minutes.
“We have to put that into a full performance and hopefully we can get that same response from the supporters.
“We were just so disappointed for them because we wanted to put on a performance and get the victory especially in your local derby. It would have been great way to start putting performances together.”
The big push for Peter is to have a packed East End Park with as many supporters in as possible:-
“They go away from it feeling entertained on a Saturday having won a game of football. That is what I want here, the more games of football you win the better you play, the more supporters you attract along and all the youngsters want to come along and watch you more often. That is what we are here for, that is why we play the game.
“There is nothing better than a full house of your own supporters, being delighted and clapping you off at the end of the game. When you don’t play well it is the exact opposite, you get the criticism that you deserve.
“The expectation here is to win and you want that expectation to get more and more so you get more and more people in here. To do that, the bottom line is that you have to win games of football.”
