Result all important come Tuesday night

Monday, 12th Apr 2021

Kevin O’Hara - “It was good to get a goal in that game but this Dundee game is one to look forward to. It is a massive game, we just can’t wait to get prepared to go against Dundee.”

The long awaited home game against fellow play off contenders, Dundee, on Tuesday night now holds more significance than ever. After taking just one point from the two league matches at Dens Park earlier this season, Dunfermline are in dire need of a win.

Following Tuesday night’s match both sides will only have three matches remaining in which to secure a play off place and the Dee will be eyeing up a win that would open the gap up between them and their opponents to eight points. A win for the Pars would take them back into fourth place, one point above Inverness and just two behind Dundee.

Kevin O’Hara has started the last five Dunfermline matches and the striker is hoping to use home advantage and a renewed resolve to change the club’s fortunes against James McPake’s side, he said:-

“The next three games are at home and you would rather be playing at East End Park. There we can really take the game to other teams, that is what we will try and do.”

Kevin has scored nine times for Dunfermline, the most recently at Raith but also at Dundee when he opened the scoring in a match that the Pars managed to lose from being two goals ahead. Tuesday night provides an opportunity to avenge the Dens Park experience. He said he would love to score more against Dundee:-

“It was good to get a goal in that game but this Dundee game is one to look forward to. It is a massive game, we just can’t wait to get prepared to go against Dundee.”

With 27 appearances for the Pars, Kevin has now started more times than times than used as a substitute. He has been delighted in the vote of confidence given to him by Stevie Crawford:-

“When you train hard every week you want to be in the side on a Saturday. I am glad that the gaffer is trusting me in these big games recently. I just want to do my best for the team and hopefully I can chip in with a few goals or assists.”

Kevin claimed that it is always disappointing not to pick up all three points against Ayr United, no matter who you are playing against. To leave Somerset Park on Saturday with just the one was really only acceptable given the rest of the league games were also draws.

“It doesn’t affect us too much, we are still on the same position going into Tuesday night. These three home games coming up will be massive and we want to pick up maximum points if we can.”

The last home game witnessed Dunfermline draw 0-0 with the now Championship winners, Hearts and the reaction in that match and that against Ayr United gives Kevin confidence:-

“It is tough game coming down to Somerset, it always is, and as the manager said, the reaction has been really good since the Raith game. That is done now and as soon as we came into training that week we were ready to go again. I think in the last two performances the attitude and work rate has been really good.”

At Ayr Declan McManus’ early goal, when he drifted in between Jordan Houston and Corrie NDaba to glance a header past Peter Morrison, got the Fifers off to a perfect start but Kevin explained the set back just 12 minutes later:-

“You are at your most vulnerable when you score a goal. Obviously we’d like not to concede at all but we had a good reaction after they scored and looked like the team that was going to be the next one to score.

“We were unfortunate with a few chances but we will go back into training and work on things like that again.” However, Kevin warned:-

“At the end of the day sometimes performances are not what we need, it is more the result.”
