It was a dejected Stevie Crawford who addressed the media post match after a disappointing 1-0 home defeat to Inverness Caley Thistle:-

“Obviously we have lost the game and I have just said to the group of boys in there that we have lost games this season where I felt we possibly shouldn’t have. We didn’t do enough to win a game of football today.

“I have got to be careful because I might end up talking through emotion here, I think you will sense that I am not happy. It is not like me when speaking to the press but there were wee things that happened within the game today. I will never hang anybody out to dry when talking about one individual.

“Collectively it wasn’t enough and that got us in the position where we are at. I have told the players that. I will look at myself in the mirror, I am manager of this football club and I am not saying that we deserved to lose the game, I didn’t think there was much but we didn’t do enough to win it.”

There are eight league games left between now and the rest of the season and still in third, in a good position to make the play offs if you can recapture the early season form?

“Over the 90 minutes there wasn’t much in the game. We tweaked it a little bit at half time with Steven Whittaker sitting on Sutherland and we brought Fraser Murray back a little bit but that left Craig a little isolated upfront on his own, albeit we had two wider players on the pitch.

“We introduced Lewis Mayo and I just felt that we had to give ourselves a better option upfront by putting Declan McManus on. I thought we were positive in terms of our substitutions, you know I’m not wanting to play at East End Park settling for a draw.

“There were things throughout the game, things that we had worked on in training that never came out today. I’m not saying that they did not try and having a go at that but sometimes you can take your eye off the ball a little bit.

“I was delighted with the way we dealt with the covid situation and the way we ground out a result last week against Morton, creating chances but credit to Inverness their tails were up. I had watched them in midweek against Raith Rovers and they were aggressive there especially in the early part of the game.

“I didn’t see enough today of what has got us into second place in the League. We have the Morton game now to look forward to on Tuesday night.”

Paul Watson was forced to come off in 72 minutes, how is he?

“It is too early to know. Paul has played for a number of weeks and in the result against Morton there were boys playing with wee niggles here and there as well. Unfortunately we lost him today because he was feeling his groin / hip area.

“Paul is an experienced pro, he held up his hand and was honest to say that he just couldn’t continue. We will just have to monitor him and see where he is at for the games coming up.”
