Covid Update
Tuesday, 16th Mar 2021Following the recent covid outbreak at our club, DAFC Club Chairman, Ross McArthur would like to provide an update.
“Despite our best endeavours, as was reported, the virus was recently able to penetrate our football bubble.
This has been a very fluid situation, and extremely challenging. Sadly, this resulted in 4 members of staff testing positive, and a further 12 staff self-isolating, as they had been deemed to be close contacts. To protect the privacy of the staff concerned, I will not be mentioning any names, as it has been a difficult time for the staff and their families. We have tried to provide every support we could during this time.
The transmission of the virus has been extremely unpredictable, and there has been a period of 10 days between the first and last positive case, resulting in one person still self isolating at home. This has brought it home to us all, just how infectious and challenging the Coronavirus can be.
In the run up to the Morton fixture, a number of players had only undertaken one of two days training, and the rest of the squad had severe restrictions placed upon their training arrangements.
Some players who tested positive played on Saturday against Morton, which is to their great credit and put in tremendous individual performances.
Finally, I have to pay tribute to Stevie, the back room staff and players for their efforts and discipline throughout this challenging season, as they have made so many sacrifices along the way, and will continue to do so for the rest of this season. People might not be aware of the extent of the challenges that they are faced with, day in and day out. However, I would like to acknowledge the leadership of Euan Murray and the players for coping with everything that has been thrown at them.”
