Injuries Update

News of Ryan Dow and Aaron Comrie

Manager Stevie Crawford has confirmed that Ryan Dow’s injury is going to keep him out long term but the injury to Aaron Comrie picked up in the Championship win over Alloa Athletic last Saturday could mean that he misses only one game. The manager said today:-

“Ryan has seen a specialist and it is going to be a longer term injury. We know where we are at with it. He is going to be six weeks in a boot and then we will assess it after that point to see if he is ready to start rehab after that.

“The initial six weeks are frustrating for us because when it happened in the game against Raith Rovers, Ryan was having a really good impact on the game. Ryan is a big player for us but the boys have responded in a good manner to go and take three points at the weekend and get us back into second place.

“Ryan will be rooting for us but at the moment he is stuck in his house in Dundee. In a couple of weeks time he will be back down and around the gym.”

When he returns to East End Park Ryan will work with physio, Jamie Sutton to try and get him back to fitness but the manager suggested patience:-

“I am not 100% sure where we are at with the injury, we are still at the early stages of it but he has been advised by the specialist to use the boot. He is on the mend already and we will just have to monitor that for the next three or four weeks.”

In contrast Stevie felt that Aaron Comrie (pictured above) was in a better place:-

“Aaron came off during the Alloa game and at this moment in time, we think he has managed to catch it in time to prevent a longer term injury. The weekend might come too early and it might be the case that he will miss out.

“We are hopeful that Aaron is not going to be a longer term one. He was frustrated because he felt his hamstring and couldn’t continue in the game. I think he has been sensible and he has saved a few weeks in terms of his recovery. With the hamstring you have to watch and cannot push because it can end up a longer term one.

“Kyle Macdonald came in and did well. We have got other options there should we decide to go without Aaron.”
