Former player hits 90!
Friday, 26th Feb 2021Dunfermline Athletic are delighted to congratulate Jim Ross on the occasion of his 90th Birthday.
A tall, strong inside-left, Jim Ross was signed for Dunfermline Athletic in February 1954 from St Andrews United by Bobby Ancell, the Pars Manager. Jim cost the Pars £80 and the promise of a fund-raiser at St Andrews which was played on 29 April 1954.
He even attended his own wedding in September 1954 with a cut eye, courtesy of a reserve game for Dunfermline against Dundee. Jim went on to play for Cowdenbeath. A plasterer to trade, Jim preferred to limit his chances in football by remaining part-time. In later life he ran a cafe in Kirkcaldy.
