Manager Stevie Crawford said that he had watched Arbroath’s last match against Ayr United:-

“They came down and played with the very same formation with two up front. I thought in regards to the conditions it was a game of football where both teams were trying to win the game. It is not until you come and stand out here that you realise the strength of the wind and the rain and the conditions that the boys have been playing in.

“I am really pleased that we have come away with a clean sheet, big Owain has made some terrific saves during the game. We had chances in the first half which on another day we would have scored and then it is that never say die attitude towards the end.

“Dom Thomas has done brilliantly on the right hand side, he puts in a cross and then you have Josh Edwards in the dying minutes of a game showing the composure and then it is a great header from Kevin O’Hara - I am delighted for him.

“I am delighted for him. Obviously he missed the penalty in the shoot out in the St Johnstone game and it is great for Kevin, that will be a valuable three points and se is the one who has scored the winner.

“The way the results have gone today, Hearts won, Dundee won, Raith Rovers won so it is a big three points. I think Dick (Campbell) will be disappointed with the result but the game could have gone either way.

“They were very good against Ayr United, we knew that it was going to be a tough game today but it is the resilience and that attitude of digging in, the substitutions all coming on and having a positive impact that brought us rewards again today.”

Could you make it easier for supporters and everyone watching if you could not leave it until time added on before scoring the important goals?

“Football is never easy. We could have scored in the earlier parts of the game, parts of the second half were very tough but I am just delighted to come away with a clean sheet. That is now the first third of fixtures completed and with 18 points we are in a good place. We are right in the pack.”

Dunfermline now face two matches that could really shape their season - Inverness Caley Thistle in the Highland capital on Tuesday evening and Raith Rovers at home in the New Year fixture.

“We will recover properly, we will train Monday in preparation for going up to Inverness and it is a game that we can look forward to.”

What will the goal do for Kevin O’Hara?

“The goal will help but his attitude and the way Kevin trains he never showed any weakness. It is that mentality that allows him to score because I have just seen the goal back, it was a great ball from Josh but he is having to pull away from goal and put a bit of pace on the header.

“Because he trains properly and yes he was disappointed but nothing more than that. He has shown his professionalism today. Ideally he will probably want more game time at the moment but Kevin had a successful season at Alloa last year, he is scoring goals for us, so is Declan, and he is very much a valued member of our squad.”

Arbroath manager Dick Campbell did not speak to the press after this match
