SPFL Awards for November

Tuesday, 8th Dec 2020

For the second month running the SPFL Championship Manager of the Month and Player of the Month for October both come to Dunfermline

Congratulations to Stevie Crawford and Kyle Turner who have been named SPFL Championship Manager and Player of the Month for November. Coming in the month following Stevie Crawford and Euan Murray’s success in these awards, this is a proud double double for the club which went through the month unbeaten.

The two wins in the Betfred Cup saw the club qualify for the quarter final of the Betfred Cup and in the Championship they secured a draw away to Ayr United and an important home win over title favourites Heart of Midlothian.

Kyle Turner joined Dunfermline at the end of May 2019 on a two year contract. Then 21 years of age the midfielder arrived at East End Park having impressed while at Stranraer, where scored 19 goals in 139 appearances after making his debut in September 2015.

Kyle started out as a young kid at St Mirren, went back to St Peters Boys Club and on to play under 17 at Partick Thistle and a few under 20s games before going back to his local boys club, Glentyan Thistle in Kilbarchan.

Signed for Stranraer under 20s but in a matter of weeks was promoted into the first team by Brian Reid. Kyle was virtually ever present for four seasons at Stranraer before coming to Dunfermline. In his 18 months at Dunfermline Kyle has started 36 matches and come on off the bench eight times.

This season the 23 year old has been a hard working and influential player for the Pars. His performance against Hearts was highly acclaimed and in the Betfred Cup came on against Clyde at 2-0 down and set up the winning goal from his free kick in added time.

This is the first time that Kyle Turner has won an SPFL award. He becomes the thirteenth Pars recipient of a national Player of the Month Award.

Stevie has won the Manager of the Month award three times now, in October 2020 and in February 2019 just one month after taking over from Allan Johnston. Stevie also won one of this type of award as a player - in 2000 he won the PFA First Division Player of the Year Award.

This is the 16th time a Dunfermline manager has won the Manager of the Month Award. Leading the list is Jim McIntyre with five (all SFL First Division Manager of the Month), followed by Allan Johnston with three (two League One and one Championship manager of the month). Jimmy Calderwood twice won SPL Manager of the Month, and Stephen Kenny won the same award once. Finally, Jim Jefferies won twice (once as SFL First Division and secondly as SPFL League One Manager of the Month).
