Points should be played for
Tuesday, 20th Oct 202020/10/20: SC - “You don’t want to see any team punished. We want to see clubs competing to win points.
In these uncertain times Stevie Crawford has said that he would not be in favour of any loss of points for coronavirus-related reasons. The Betfred Cup has different rules from the league and that saw Falkirk awarded a 3-0 win when Kilmarnock were unable to fulfil their Betfred Cup fixture. He told the social distanced media mask to mask today:-
“I am not really aware of these sorts of conversations but look at it from the organisational side of things, there are only so many weekends that you can fill games with. We just have to be very careful and try our best that players and coaching staff don’t pick up the virus.
“You don’t want to see any team punished. We want to see clubs competing to win points. I am sure that the powers that be will talk to clubs and the right people at the clubs to make sure that we try to fulfil as many fixtures as we possibly can.”
Talking about measures to minimise the damage if one of the Dunfermline players was to come down with the virus, the manager said:-
“We are just making sure that we are adhering to the protocols that the chairman has set out for the football club - face masks, social distancing, no car sharing and minimising chances of anyone in the squad catching this virus. The boys are not even getting showered after games or after training.
“Obviously we have seen how it has affected other clubs. It is a tricky one because you are blind to see how this virus is getting past on from person to person. I really do sympathise with clubs hit with it. I heard Brian Rice on the radio saying that they (Hamilton Accies) had been hit again with it.
“You can only look after your own club and if it does present itself to us we have to try and deal with it in house the best we can so that it doesn’t affect our performances on a Saturday.”
