Fraser Murray first interview

“Before everything we need to get a winning mentality here and win as many games as possible.

Fraser Murray is delighted to come to Dunfermline on loan until the end of the season. He outlined his ambitions for the season ahead:-

“You want to come to a team and do well, play as much as you can but help the team get three points and get promoted to the Premier League. You have to aim high when you come on loan to a team.”

As has been widely rumoured Fraser has been training with Dunfermline for a few weeks now:-

“I have settled in well and I know a few of the boys so it made it easy for me to come here. There is a very high standard of player here so it is down to myself if I want to be playing every week, it is not going to be easy. I will just get my head down and work hard.”

Steven Whittaker was obviously a team mate at Hibs but Fraser previously also played for Scotland with Kerr McInroy who was signed on loan from Celtic on Tuesday.

“It was a no brainer to come here when I first heard of the interest. Dunfermline is a big club with a big fan base as well, that is what attracts.

“I was in at pre season at Hibs but Jack Ross said that it would benefit me to get more game time. I agreed with that, I am at an age now where I need to be playing a lot more than I was. Hopefully this can help me.”

Fraser has certainly stood out in both Dunfermline’s pre season friendlies:-

“I enjoyed the last two friendlies. Against Stenhousemuir I managed to score a goal and in the Spartans game it was an assist. I enjoy playing with the boys here and I hope that we can carry that on into the season and get a good start.

“It was important to get minutes into my legs. I am in my second pre season this year so I am feeling good now and can’t wait to get going. I started back half way through June and had a few games at Hibs to get a bit of match fitness in me.

“I have been full time at Hibs since the age of seventeen. It is a big step from youth football into full time football but I enjoyed that.”

Helping allow Fraser make that step up along the way have been coaches Grant Murray and Eddie May. Managers including Neil Lennon and Jack Ross and the coaches in the gym, Steve Curnyn and Paul Green - “I have had a lot of people helping me behind the scenes.

“Right now my focus is on Dunfermline. It is about winning games and hopefully being successful here. Before everything we need to get a winning mentality here and win as many games as possible. I was in the Scotland Under 19 set up a year or two ago. Hopefully the more games I can play the more that I challenge.”
