Artwork Handed Over by Owain
Wednesday, 24th Jun 2020Last seasons on loan keeper Owain Fon Williams hands over artwork
When last season’s on loan keeper Owain Fon Williams came back to East End Park to collect his boots and gloves, left behind as the club went into lockdown at the end of March, he arranged to hand over the original painting he had put up for auction as part of our Support the Pars campaign.
Although the auction winner wished to remain anonymous, they had asked if we could arrange for someone from the Former Players Association to collect the painting on their behalf. So, who better to receive the artwork than Pars legend and cup winning captain, Roy Barry?
The silent auction for the painting, entitled ‘Pars’, raised an amazing £3000 for the campaign and we caught up with Owain, and his wife Claire, recently to present him with a token of our appreciation for his contribution.
As part of another fund raising initiative, we commissioned a commemorative whisky from the Glenturret distillery called ‘Lockdown’. A one off label was produced featuring Owain’s painting and he was thrilled (and humbled) to accept our gift.
