- - Listen to Stevie Crawford’s interview

Dunfermline’s first home win over Dundee United delighted Pars manager Stevie Crawford and after the match he told the media:-

“I said after the other night if the boys applied themselves then they would give ourselves the opportunity to win a game of football. To compete and go on and win a game against the league leaders is really satisfying to come away with three points.

“I thought to a man they were different class especially after losing Aaron Comrie early doors with an injury. After the disappointment of the other night when a few decisions went against us we never showed it and never felt sorry for ourselves. We have responded in the right manner.”

Asked what was the most pleasing aspect of the performance, Stevie said:-

“The clean sheet. It starts from the front and I think everybody can see that Kevin Nisbet will get a lot of pats on the back for his display. I know that he has scored today as well but if he continues in that vein of form and he is willing to work back and do the defensive side like he is, then he is going to have a right good future ahead of him.”

Kevin’s 26th minute opener came after great vision from Kyle Turner claimed Stevie:-

“He knows has to hit a flatter pass in for it to get there and to beat the defender there. For Kevin to peel off and finish the way he did shows that he is a natural goalscorer.”

The three points and beating the league leaders is a big boost for everybody claimed the gaffer:-

“Dundee United came down and were very good against us here the last time. I thought we competed very well in the second half against them but people remember the first half so this was a step in the right direction. We are not getting carried away and it was nice for Jonathan (Afolabi) to get his goal today and Dom with his assist. To a man I thought we were different class today.”

How nice is it to get the first home win over Dundee United in 13 years?

“It has taken a long time in coming but the supporters have been great. I mentioned Tuesday night’s game, it took us down into seventh place and the boys had to handle a bit of pressure going into that game today because the league is that tight.

“We have given ourselves an opportunity now over the next three or four games to start looking up the way and get ourselves int9 the play off positions that we want to be in.”

Aaron Comrie, Ethan Ross and Kevin Nisbet all needed to be withdrawn before the end, were they all injured?

“Yes and there are another few with bumps and bruises - Euan Murray and Lee Ashcroft. Sometimes that is what it takes to win a game of football. For all the aches and pains that we will have over the next couple of days, we will look after them properly.

“It helps us that the game against Arbroath is on Wednesday it gives them that extra 24 hours to recover from the game.”
