Everyone happy with Nizzy decision

Stevie Crawford this week expressed just how pleased he was that Kevin Nisbet is still at the club. Having scored 22 goals in 30 appearances management and fans alike were delighted to see bids in the January transfer window for the Pars leading goalscorer knocked back. The manager said:-

“I’m delighted Kevin’s still at the club. I think it is important the chairman has spoken about the path we want to go down. For us to turn down offers for Kevin shows where we’re at and the ambitions we’ve got.

“The supporters have been fantastic to a person, even through that spell, which wasn’t pleasant going. But they stood by us and I’m sure they’ll take confidence from the fact we’ve managed to keep hold of Kevin.

“Kevin is going to have a massive impact on what happens between now and the end of the season and we want to give ourselves the best opportunity of success.”

The 22 year old who was signed from Raith Rovers in the summer accepted the chairman’s decision at the beginning of January. Kevin said that speculation and bids are something that you need to acknowledge but claimed that he just had tunnel vision for Dunfermline.

“The chairman did say at the start of the window that he was not selling me at all. I spoke to him at the start of the window, everything was clear and I knew that I was staying at Dunfermline until the summer. It would not be great losing your top goalscorer when you are pushing for the play offs.

“I don’t think that he would have accepted any bid, it was just something that he could not accept. With the form that I am in just now scoring goals it would just take too much away from the team. It was just a decision he made and I was happy with that.

“I am happy to stay here until the summer and hopefully push for promotion. I think we have a great squad here and we have built on that. We didn’t have a great start to the season but we have kicked on now and hopefully we can string three, four or five wins together at a crucial point in the season.”

When the starting eleven against Queen of the South was announced on the day after the January window closed there was a little surprise that Kevin was only named as a substitute. His manager explained the reason for that:-

“Kevin had pulled up feeling his calf on the Monday and we just felt it was right going down to Palmerston, with that surface. He’s over that now and he’s had a good couple of weeks’ training.”
