Chairman`s Christmas Message
Monday, 23rd Dec 2019A message from Dunfermline Athletic Chairman Ross McArthur
On behalf of the DAFC Board and all of our staff, I would like to wish all of our supporters, sponsors and the wider Pars Family a Merry Christmas.
Can I also wish everyone connected to our club a Happy New Year, when it comes, and let’s hope 2020 is an exciting one for the Pars!
Looking back over 2019, it has been a year of transition in many respects for our club. We have made a lot of changes behind the scenes both in terms of processes and personnel. As I stated at the end of last season, we had to make a number of cutbacks in a variety of areas including the playing budget.
Stevie, Jason and Greg along with the rest of the backroom staff deserve great credit not only for embracing things as they are, but being fully focussed on the job in hand and developing the younger group of players we now have at the club.
The guys also put in an enormous amount of hard work, under the radar from most, but not from the Board of Directors who greatly appreciate their efforts.
Despite the challenges we have faced on and off the park in 2019, I have to take this opportunity to thank all of our club’s staff, including the playing squad and the very many volunteers who assist in and around our club, their tireless efforts are also very much appreciated.
Also, I would like to thank our loyal supporters for following our club in good numbers, home and away in 2019. Your support and loyalty is never taken for granted.
I know the majority of supporters recognise that we are trying to create an environment and infrastructure at East End Park that will hold our club in good stead for the future, even if that may mean we have a few bumps in the road along the way.
As a die-hard Pars fan myself, I know we want everything to happen today, but there is a lot of hard work going on behind the scenes at present, and I genuinely believe our collective patience and perseverance will be rewarded.
This time of year is always poignant, as we remember Margaret Ross, who is missed by us all. Our thoughts go out to Margaret’s partner Tom and all of her family.
Our thoughts also go to the families of our supporters who sadly passed away this year – they will not be forgotten.
Ross McArthur
Chairman
