In his post match interview Stevie Crawford revealed that after conceding four goals at Dundee the previous Saturday work had gone into tightening the defensive approach to this match.
“We tried to have our backline and midfield line more structured which I felt we did. We hit them on the counterattack and created a couple of opportunities. On another day we could possibly have scored from them but in the main, as much as our lines were decent and the distances between them, we ended up sitting too deep.
“Probably Inverness got in too many crosses. We lost a goal from the second phase of a set play - a cross into the box and Shaun Rooney has nipped in front to score the first goal.
“In the second half I thought we huffed and puffed. We tried to change it by bringing Andy Ryan on to go 4-4-2 to give us that extra up front but but didn`t happen today.
”It is not getting too despondent, we had won three games on the bounce within the space of a week and we have come to two difficult places in Dens Park and up here today but that is not to say that is acceptable.
”We gave improved in the second quarter from what we did in the first and that us what we have to look at going into the remaining games.
”As I have said, there has been a big change in the personnel that we have brought into the club in the summer and it is not going to happen from day one. We have made improvement in the second quarter but the next challenge is getting better and looking up the way.
“Dundee have won today so we find ourselves three points behind them and Ayr United. That is what we have to set our sights on.
“I think we saw Inverness man manage the second half really well when they were in front. They made it very difficult for us to try and get back into the game. Probably why they are sitting in second place at the moment."
Positives today with Joe Thomson starting his first match since March and on loan Anthony McDonald coming on for hi# debut?
“On the back or losing the game last week we felt that it was right to try and freshen it up. We worked on things through the week so the positives from that is Joe starting a game and getting through a number of minutes.
”Anthony has come on and he looked decent going forward. He has a bit of creativity, we will have to see where we are with Hearts moving forward from that in January. It is a communication that we will gave between now and the January window.”
Tom Beadling had to come off two minutes before half time and the manager gave an update on his injury:-
”I don`t think that he has done his hamstring to the extent that he will be out for a long period of time but it is dangerous to say that. Kevin Bain will have to see it, it was his hamstring that he was feeling. Hopefully he has prevented being out for a long spell, it is just a matter of days or a week possibly to get that fixed.”
