Stevie Crawford told the media that he was disappointed to come up to Dens and go back down the road with nothing:-
“On the back of last week when we came away with nine points out of nine, I thought to be 3-1 down was very harsh on us but having said that it was not good enough to lose the goals that we did today. Collectively we have to take that on the chin.
“What was very pleasing was the response when we went down to ten men. There was a togetherness and albeit Kevin scored the goal on the counterattack but there was the discipline. Then we got the third goal and it gets a little bit edgy for Dundee towards the end when we might have nicked a point.”
The second half was only 27 seconds old when Stevie’s half time team talk was undone. It was a goal from Danny Johnson to make it 4-1 that ultimately played out to be the match winner.
“We tried to address a couple of things at half time. It is something that again collectively we will be very disappointed in because Dundee getting the fourth goal then puts a cushion in the game. At 3-1 there is a chance when you get the next goal you can possibly go on to win it, if not at least get a point.
“We probably got what we deserved in the end because of the manner that we lost the goals today but not to be too despondent on the back of last week, we still look a goal threat going forward today.”
Chances did come towards the end and to nick a point was a realistic possibility, Stevie continued:-
“I don’t want to make myself sound silly here but in the first half I was not too disappointed with the way the game was going. For fifteen minutes we kept Dundee quite and I actually thought their fans were getting on their back.
“You lose the goal and then you respond very quickly to get back in it. To come in at 3-1, yes we deserved it in a way because the goals we lost were poor goals. At the other end I thought we created chances again but the fourth goal was the killer one today.
“I cannot speak highly enough in terms of how they reacted when we went down to ten men or after going 4-1 down. We just about came back and sneaked a point in the end.”
The game looked beyond Dunfermline when at 4-1 down they had Greg Kiltie sent off. There was an amazing reaction to get it back to 4-3 and there appears to be good evidence to prove that Greg did not make any contact in the incident that earned him his first yellow in the 19th minute of the game:-
“Greg is very disappointed with the first one, he said that he actually tried to jump out of the way. I am not sure who it was in the deck at the time. Referees make the decisions and it would be easy for me to stand here and defend my player. I am not saying Greg is guilty and also I am not going to have a go at Kevin (Clancy).
“We lost the game today because of the goals that we lost. We just have to move on. We have Inverness next week and it is a big important game for us.”
