Stevie Crawford claimed that he was not concerned that the important first goal did not come in the first half of the match against Queen of the South. He told his post match press conference that he felt his side was excellent:-

“We knocked the ball about well. They did things that we had asked them to try and get in behind, it was very pleasing. Coming in at 0-0, had we threatened their goal enough? Maybe not.

“What the boys have shown in recent matches is a togetherness and belief in them at the moment that we are going to get chances in games and we are giving ourselves a platform now to go and win games.”

Ryan Scully did not have a save to make?

“I think there was maybe one in the first half, I am not sure but it shows the organisation and the work rate. We have made one change today (subbing Andy Ryan) but it was right to a man to go with the boys right until the end albeit Tom Beadling came on and had a positive impact on the game as well.

“I felt that we were asking questions of Queen of the South in the first half and there was a discipline about us out of possession. The goal didn’t come but we were still composed and focused at half time.

“We came out with the belief that we didn’t need to go gung ho to try and win games of football by leaving yourself vulnerable at the back.

“It was very pleasing particularly for Ryan Dow. When he first came back he was still playing with a fair amount of pain in his right knee but he has been grinning and bearing it for a number of weeks now and he is just getting back to full fitness so I am delighted to see him getting a goal today as well.”

As going so long without a home win, that is three in a row now?

“When you look at the summer (signings) it takes an amount of time for things to gel. We went through a wee rough spell after the Celtic game. Dundee United came down and ruffled the feathers a little bit and then we went up to Arbroath.

“We had a spell where we were tested. The boys have stuck together and the pleasing thing for us now is that we have injured players coming back which makes it even tougher for team selection.

“We have momentum but let’s not carried away. It brings a belief, you can see in winning a few games the attacking threat that we have got. Fair play to the boys playing at the back, it starts at Ryan, or Cammy if he is in goals, and they give us a solid foundation. It is very much a collective thing and long may it continue.”

The result, coupled by Dundee United defeating Inverness Caley Thistle leaves Dunfermline just four points off fourth place. SC added:-

“We have gone in a different direction in terms of trying to go with a younger squad and give people an opportunity. It is a squad can also grow but a club like Dunfermline has to be trying to get in the play offs as a minimum. It can be a big ask for a young squad but we are certainly going in the right direction.”
