Manager Stevie Crawford said that he was “extremely disappointed” to lose the ninth minute goal to Dundee United. He told his post match press conference:-
“It gave Dundee United a foothold in the game. You could see that the6 grew in confidence from the second goal. I think Kyle Turner has a half chance at 1-0 to get us back in the game but for as much as we are disappointed to come up here and lose, I thought the response from the boys in the second half showed that there was a belief about us.
“I know that we have lost the game 2-0 but we had three good chances in the second half. Andy Ryan was very unlucky hitting the crossbar is n the second half, Kevin Nisbet had a snatched shot and Ryan Dow forced the keeper to make a really good save When through one on one.
“As much as we are disappointed we will look at the positive side of it. We have got to say that we gave it a right good go in the second half and we now have the Arbroath game on Tuesday night to look forward to.”
Was it a tough decision to start Andy Ryan in place of Kevin Nisbet today?
“It is not a personal thing when you leave somebody out. Andy Ryan had come on, scored a couple of goals and looked very lively. He was deserving of his chance today. It happened to be Kevin Nisbet who missed out.
“On that side I saw no petulance or disappointment in Kevin when he came on. I thought that he tried to link the game for us, he got himself in a couple of goalscoring positions. It wa# for the team, Kevin took that today and took it in the manner that was intended.”
Asked for an update on Lewis Martin who was injured in first half added time and did not reappear for the second 45, SC said:-
“Unfortunately it is an impact injury so they are very hard to tell how serious they are. It could be one that dies down within a couple of days. There is a fair bit of swelling, he has had to have it strapped up. I think it will take a day or two for Kevin (Bain) to assess what the outcome will be of that injury.”
