“Frustrated” was how Stevie Crawford described his feelings after the 1-1 draw with Alloa Athletic at East End Park.
“I just said to the boys, you take the positives out of the win at Partick last week then today you go a goal down to a decent strike to be fair. I think we had the majority of the chances and you are scratching your head on the sidelines.
“We managed to get a goal back with a good finish when Kyle (Turner) hit it early. That got us back into the game and we have just not tested the keeper enough today to score the goals to win us the game.
“We are extremely disappointed not to beat Alloa at home but you know, Paul Paton was missing from last week and he gives us that experience in the middle of the park. Harry Cochrane came in to play his first game alongside Kyle Turner.
“I thought as the game progressed the two of them got stronger so credit to them in there. It is a harsh environment the Championship, you could look at it as two points dropped or you could say at least we have managed to get ourselves back into the game under tricky circumstances and take a point from the game.”
Josh Coley was introduced as a sub late in the second half and the manager agreed that he looked lively:-
“I think he struggled the last time bringing him on here against Alloa. Today he had a totally different mindset, he got on the ball and got deliveries into the box. Did we test the keeper enough right from the off? No we never and that is something that we will try and get better at.”
Kyle Turner played a big part creatively and Stevie commented:-
“He needed to add goals to his game, credit to him he is now doing that at a higher level. That is credit to his work ethic and how he has worked since the minute that has come in here for pre season.
“Lewis McCann is another, he and Kiltie give us a flexibility within the game to chop and change who is playing upfront and then do a job on the left hand side. They just need to ask more questions.
“Lewis McCann is young, he only has a handful of games under his belt and he will only get better as well.”
