Gaelic and Fitbaw
Friday, 20th Sep 2019A night of Gaelic and Fitbaw at East End Park
Dunfermline Athletic FC, in conjunction with Gaelic in Fife recently hosted an evening of Gaelic and Fitbaw, showcasing the contribution made by BBC ALBA to Scottish football and highlighting Fife’s historical connections with the Gaelic language.
Hugh Dan MacLennan, one of the Gaelic channel’s sporting voices entertained the attentive and appreciative audience (which included three of our young players Gabby McGill, Josh Coley and Matty Bowman) with a lot of background history and up to date information about where and how Gaelic can be seen, heard and learned in the Fife community.
Stars of the show were two young fans Caitlin and Scott who showed the way learning useful phrases like how to show “Tha thu dall” or “Tha thu craicte” at the referee – and some other, more polite and useful phrases like how to say scores in Gaelic.
