Gaffer pleased to welcome Kiltie
Wednesday, 4th Sep 201904/09/19: SC - “He has a big future ahead of him and we are very lucky to have him on board.
Stevie Crawford is hoping that all the hard work that has gone on off the park in building a squad for this season’s Ladbrokes Championship, will prove to have been time well spent. Talking after the transfer window had closed he reflected:-
“You wake up in the morning and realise the turnover that we have had in players. You consider the work, commitment and effort away from what you see out on the pitch on a Saturday, from all parties within the club, and all the hours that have been spent.
“I am thankful now that we can focus our attentions on the football cause between now and the January transfer window. It is an ongoing thing, it doesn’t stop but good to get one last one over the line on Monday night.”
Having said for several weeks that he was looking to bring in a wide player, signing Greg Kiltie on loan from Kilmarnock is for now the final piece of the jigsaw.
“We had identified him in the summer but with the quality that he has got and the management change at Kilmarnock, you never know. You are never privy to know the ins and outs of what is happening at another football club.
“When it came to our attention that Greg was available and then we had a conversation with him and we are delighted that we have brought him on board.
“Is he an out and out winger? Probably not but he can play in wide areas and he has also shown that at Championship level he has experience to play in and around the striker as well. He has got goals to him and he is an attacking threat.
“Greg brings in obvious qualities, he was highly thought of to break into the Kilmarnock team at sixteen years of age and I have always liked him.
“I know that he is still young but he has got match experience. He knows what it is like to prepare for a game, to handle a crowd if the game isn’t going your way. He has also handled playing in front of bigger crowds as well, he has a big future ahead of him and we are very lucky to have him on board.
“It is a season long loan at the moment. Hopefully he can bring that bit of guile and nous in the final third to help the players that we have brought in over the summer.”
Greg is eligible to play for Dunfermline in the Tunnocks Caramel Wafer Cup.
