Harry Cochrane First Interview
Friday, 30th Aug 2019“This year I want to play first team football and hopefully I get the chance to do that here.”
Harry Cochrane in his first interview as a Dunfermline player explained how he was just delighted to get his loan deal done.
“The whole pre season I have been looking to get out somewhere on loan, to come to a club as big as this is just brilliant for me. I am buzzing to get going.
“I found out yesterday and came in today. As soon as Craw phoned me I just knew that he could do something to allow me to come. Thankfully I am here.”
Stevie Crawford knows Harry from the gaffer’s days as a coach at Hearts and the 18 year old who hails from Stonehouse in Lanarkshire says that he has known Stevie since was a fourteen year old.
“He used to come and watch the young boys train at night. He always used to talk to me and I know that in coming here I can talk to him whenever I need.
“Sometimes with managers it is difficult doing that because maybe players don’t want to go and talk to them because they don’t know them that well. Because I know Craw it is just brilliant.”
Harry is a product of the SFA’s Performance Academy in Kilmarnock and he praised the effect it had on his development.
“If we had a game at the weekend we would have recovery on the Monday. Then we would take two periods like art or music out of the day to train. I think it was definitely really good for me.
“When I started the Performance School I was at Rangers and moved to Hearts at Under 13s. It was probably one of the best decisions that I have made in my life. Obviously making my debut at sixteen for Hearts could not have been expected. I think if I had stayed at Rangers that probably wouldn’t have happened, just based on the size of club and the players that they have got.
“Thankfully I got my chance at Hearts because there weren’t many players in the squad and they were quite low in numbers. I got my chance at sixteen but never really played much last year. He has brought in a lot of centre midfielders, experienced ones as well like Glen Whelan. I didn’t see myself playing this year and couldn’t see myself as a regular at Hearts this season, so it was important to get out on loan.
“I couldn’t really stay there and play in the reserves all year. I have been playing in the reserves since I was fifteen. This year I want to play first team football and hopefully I get the chance to do that here.”
Stevie Crawford has been upfront about starting places telling Harry before he signed that he would have to work for his place. He ended:-
“I trained today, kept my head down and hopefully I get a chance. I’d like to score a few goals this season - I have not scored many - and start adding goals to my game. I think it is something that I definitely need to improve on.”
