Defender out for the fall

As a result of his injury at Palmerston Euan Murray could be out for at least eight weeks.

Stevie Crawford has revealed that one of his central defenders will be out for a considerable part of the season. Euan Murray fell badly after going up to try and convert an added time corner against Queen of the South. The Pars gaffer said that his physios had sent the 25 year old for a scan and that had revealed bad news:-

“For as much as it was positive after the Queens game that he was back on his feet and he walked through to the dressing room. Kevin Bain and John Porteous had to make sure that he was scanned because of the area where he took the heavy knock.

“It has not come back great, we could be looking at eight weeks out. It is a neck injury where there is a bulging of the disc and possible nerve problems, an area where you can’t take chances.

“He can run so he will be able to keep up to speed with his fitness but it needs to settle down, get him scanned again and then reassess. It is a sore one for us to take on the chin. It is going to be hard for Euan to sit out for that eight week period but it is a problem that we can’t control.

“We have just to get on with it but it leaves the door open for young Stuart Morrison who came in and did well. Tom Lang is chapping at the bit to try and get in the team and Danny Devine came through another 45 minutes on Monday. So there is still healthy competition for places there.”
