Kyle`s style is not enough
Monday, 12th Aug 2019“It is important in this league to get ahead and stay ahead, with just one goal if they score it is a draw.
After four seasons as a Stranraer player Kyle Turner’s first league goal for Dunfermline against Queen of the South was unwelcome as the troublesome seagulls at Palmerston Park on Saturday. Kyle added to the brace of goals he scored in the Betfred Cup against Albion Rovers but his eighth minute opener was not enough to secure all three points.
“It is good to get my first League goal but I feel that it is two points dropped. First half we should have taken our chances and put the game to bed. We had a few good chances that we should be taking.
“We said at half time that our end product wasn’t good enough in the final third. If we had taken one of them it would have made it a bit more comfortable going into the second half and it would also have been something to defend.
“It is important in this league to get ahead and stay ahead, with just one goal if they score it is a draw.
“Second half we weren’t as good as what we were. They really only had one chance in front of goal and they scored from it.
“It is disappointing but we will regroup, get together and then go into next week where obviously we have a really tough game.”
Kyle missed the opening Championship match at home to Dundee due to a suspension carried over from last season’s league campaign but was really happy to be in from the start against the Doonhamers:-
“The boys did really well last week. We were very unfortunate with the two penalties given against us. I was just hoping if I could train well all week that I could hopefully get picked.”
The 21 year old midfielder is thriving on his move from part time to full time football, he admitted that it makes a big difference training every day:-
“I am thoroughly enjoying it. It is good getting on the pitch and playing as much as I can.”
Having already played at Ibrox and Pittodrie in the blue of Stranraer - “two results that are forgettable” Kyle quickly added, and having been brought up supporting Celtic, Kyle is hoping to live the dream of playing at Celtic Park albeit as an opponent. He explained:-
“There will be something like twelve of my family and friends going so hopefully I am selected in the team and I can go out and play.
“I am looking forward to playing against a team that has won the treble three years in a row.
“You are testing yourself against the best in Scotland, we know how tough it is going to be going there. We have seen Celtic’s good result at Motherwell and last week as well. So we know it is going to be tough.
“We need to go there and be disciplined, sit on our shape, hopefully play well and get a result.”
