Mental Health Ambassador
Friday, 9th Aug 2019Eddie Martin appointed as the clubs Mental Health Ambassador.
Following on from the success of the recent mental health awareness sessions held at East End Park, DAFC are delighted to announce the appointment of Eddie Martin as the clubs Mental Health Ambassador.
Pars fan Eddie, a mental health first aid trainer, hosted the NHS accredited awareness sessions which covered such topics as depression, anxiety, suicide and recovery. As a result, several participants have volunteered to become mental health first aiders and will be trained by Eddie in the coming weeks.
As DAFC’s Mental Health Ambassador, Eddie will help promote mental health within the football club, organise and run mental health courses and workshops, engage with supporters’ clubs and work closely with the Pars Foundation.
Eddie commented, “I’m absolutely delighted and very proud to take this appointment. The mental health awareness sessions have been a great success. It’s my belief that this is ground-breaking for a Scottish football club to have a mental health ambassador who’s not only a fan but also a mental health first aid instructor. It’s the perfect fit for me as I’m passionate about the football club and passionate about educating others on mental health and can’t wait to get started in this role”.
