The Finishing Business

Sunday, 28th Jul 2019

Kevin Nisbet:- “I know if I get a chance I will score and I think in coming here I will get a lot of chances.”

Kevin Nisbet scored two of the Pars four goals in their Betfred Cup win over East Kilbride on Saturday and he felt that it was a perfect way to bounce back from the defeat away to Edinburgh City the previous week.

“I thought the lads’ application was brilliant and to get the goal so early settled us down and we controlled the game from there.

”In the last two weeks we have done a lot of finishing. I think that you can see that in the park. That is ten in the last two home games. It is going well and we are all looking forward to the start if the league next week.”

The scorer of 34 goals in 46 games last season while a Raith Rovers player is not going to get dragged into talking about targets, he added:-

”I will just take it game by game. I did that last season and that it worked so I will do that this season and hopefully I can score as many goals as I can.”

Next opportunity is in the first Championship match against Dundee on Friday night and Kevin is looking forward to this league opener:-

”Especially here, on the telly on a Friday night in front of our home fans in our first league game. All the lads are buzzing, we have topped the group, so we are going in on a high and hopefully we can do the business.

”We have a young squad but we have a great squad so we are just hoping to finish as high as possible.

”If we can go out and put in a good performance then people will start taking notice of us and we need to kick on from there.

”We have Ryan Dow on the right and Josh Coley on the left and either Andy Ryan or Kyie Turner providing chances for me. I know if I get a chance I will score and I think in coming here I will get a lot of chances.”

Kevin was on a second consecutive home hat trick from 50 minutes into the match but he accepted the decision to sub him after 63 minutes before notching a third.

”I got one last week so I wasn’t too bothered. It is just getting minutes for the Dundee game on Friday, that is the most important game. I just hope that we can top it off in a good way.”

The 22 year old Pars striker set up team mate Josh Coley for Dunfermline’s second goal and he suggested that is something that he needs to add to his game:-

“That is three assists in the last four games and last season I did not assist as much. My target was to score goals but more importantly to provide for other team mates.”

Kevin complimented his Lowland League opponents, East Kilbride, for their performance at East End Park:-

“They were very good in midfield. Their ball retention was very good but I think the goal killed them, then the second goal and the third goal. It was just about us keeping our shape and counterattacking. We did that well and created more chances where we could have scored but we are happy with a 4-0 win in a pretty tough group.
