“The pleasing thing again was that we created chances. Boys want to run in behind, put balls into the box and people want to get on the end of things, very pleasing.”
Kyle Turner got the game off to a great start with the first goal going in third minute. Stevie continued:-
“We changed the shape a little bit from the weekend, the wee man was possibly frustrated that he did not start at the weekend but I have said all along that is the headache that we want at the football club. It is the manner that he gets on the half turn and has then has the composure to pass it into the net that shows the quality that he possesses. It is headaches that I want going into the weekend about who to select.”
Kyle Turner was forced off injured in added time at the end of the match but the manager reported that his close season signing from Stranraer was fine:-
“It is a bit early to say yet where he is at but I think he should be okay for the weekend.”
Six goals which one pleased the manager most?
“I think it was probably Aaron’s one. I thought some of the football and the movement and the quality passing to get in there. Why the wee man is in the six yard box I don’t know but I am delighted for him because sometimes it goes a little unnoticed. Goalscorers get a pat on the back and Aaron was very good at the weekend and to settle and get himself a goal is a great start to his career here at Dunfermline.
The manager was pleased to see Kevin Nisbet grab a first half hattrick on his East End Park debut:-
“It is great that you are now looking at Kevin getting his three goals and being involved in a lot of the decent stuff and Andy Ryan will have been chapping at the bit tonight. He was excellent at the weekend, he would have been wanting some game time tonight but it is great that we now have competition for places.
“It will be a difficult game going to play Edinburgh City at a difficult venue. They have done great last year and I have a lot of admiration for James McDonaugh. I was on the Pro Licence last year with him so I know that they will be well set up. They were unfortunate to lose tonight at St Mirren.
“We will dust ourselves down, it will be a test because it is going to be our third game within a week. One that we will look forward to and we will make sure that the boys recover properly tomorrow.”
