Of the 3-2 win over St Mirren Stevie Crawford said that he was delighted for his team because lots of things worked on on the training field came off for them:-

”The thing that we couldn`t guarantee today was that people were going to gel and knit together but I think we saw in the first half that they did. Losing the two goals in a very short period in the second half then became the other side of the game for them.

”I have just praised them in there because it could easily have ended three each or 4-3 to St Mirren because it got edgy and we have managed to dig it out.

”Boys have thrown their heads on the line. Stuart Morrison’s cheek has a big bump. It is a dying art in a centre half as not many do that these days.

”First half, in terms of the way that we played and created chances I am delighted. Second half for a young squad really pleasing that we saw the game out.

”I thought we did well in a pre season game last week against Hibs. We had five debuts today and for it to click the way it did in the first half was great but we will not get carried away because it is one game of football against a decent side in St Mirren who will play in a league above us.

”It is pleasing to see Ryan Dow take his goal well. Andy Ryan and probably the most pleasing was not the nicest of goals was Tom Beadling’s. He got on the ball in midfield, drove with it - I don`t think we scored enough tap ins last year - he was backing up play, he could have admired his pass and he ends up getting the rub of the green with the ball landing at his feet and he was there to put it in from eight yards.”

In closing Stevie said that he was too long in the tooth to guarantee football matches like this one all season:-

”I think if we can get the balance right between the experienced ones on the field and that youthful energy then hopefully there will be more exciting games to come this season.”
