Craw comments on Coley
Saturday, 22nd Jun 201922/06/19: Stevie Crawford comments on loan deal that sees Josh Coley come to East End Park.
Stevie Crawford is pleased to have attracted Josh Coley to join Dunfermline on loan from Norwich City, he commented:
“I was keen to strengthen the squad with an attacking player in the wide areas and Josh`s name had come up. Speaking to his agent and then to Neil Adams down at Norwich, we felt he was the right fit. He`s still young but he`s got men`s football experience under his belt.
"The exciting thing was I think they had done a bit of research and they wanted him to come to the right club that would help develop a younger player. As much as we are looking at players we can develop for Dunfermline, we also have to make sure that we use the market to our advantage.”
Stevie is clear that if it is a wide player that he is looking to bring in and he thinks that the player is the right fit and he is going to help the squad then a loan player is an avenue that he will go down.
“I`m delighted he`s going to be coming on board. He`s trained with us in the last few days and he looks exciting and he`s a different type to what we`ve got.
"We`ve got to make sure he can adapt to Scottish football and that will be a challenge for him, but we`re looking forward to working with him.
"He`s very much coming up here to be challenging for a starting place. Like anybody that I have signed and anybody that I have spoken to, he is not guaranteed a starting place. Neil Adams agreed with me that fighting for a place and every minute of game time that you get is part of your development.
“It is good because it brings competition for places in forward areas and hopefully he can bring a different dimension to the team.”
Even at this early stage, the manager is pleased to see positive play in Josh’s game, he added:-
"Right away, what we`ve seen of him is that he thinks about going forward and there doesn`t seem to be a fear in him. His next challenge is going out and playing in front of 5,500 people at East End Park, how he adapts to that and he`s fully looking forward to being given the opportunity should it come around."
