”Same good, same old” was how Stevie Crawford summed up his afternoon.

”That is not good enough for us over the nine games. We lost against Ayr United and lost to Queen of the South. They were probably ones where that was deserved. Other than that we should definitely have picked up more points than we have.

”The reason being that we are struggling to put the ball in the back of the net. The league table doesn`t lie so that is something that we need to address over the summer.

”I am not taking a pop at strikers, we need to have creativeness in the side and it will be a chance for us to stamp our authority during pre season on the way we are going to try and play the game, the shape of the game. We need to bring that creative edge to us that when we are on top in games that we are a better goal threat.”

SC explained how suspension and injuries had affected his selection for the match against Inverness Caley Thistle:-

”Jackson (Longridge) got sent off last week, James Vincent pulled out on Thursday with his thigh and we were already missing Tom Beadling, Joe Thomson and Ryan Williamson. It has been very testing time. Ryan Scully went down with a virus last night so Cammy Gill found out at half ten last night that he is playing.

”I could stand here and point the finger. They are getting asked to play in a manner in the reserves at the moment. It was just unfortunate that today it was Cammy and Stuart (Morrison) who were involved in the goal. Thing that I want them to take from it is that they have to learn the difference between reserve and first team football is that you get punished at this level when that happens.

”That is not to discourage the kids trying to take the ball. We have decided to play them, they have to be given opportunities and I am definitely not going to hang them out to dry. I am disappointed for them, what I did like about it us they stood up to it and didn`t hide.

”Cammy made a very good save in the second half on to the post. Stuart conducted himself well in a role that he has only played in the last couple if reserve games. He is a centre half who we have tried further forward in the last month or so, I thought he did himself justice.”

So the Pars finished seventh but Stevie us looking forward to getting the chance to bring players in to add to their already under contract.

”We can identify players to play in the manner that we want them to play. In that respect I am looking forward to pre season. What I will say is that the end of season has not been good enough for a club like Dunfermline picking up one point from the last nine games. We can identify areas where we have not been good enough in.”

Asked about the financial implications, Stevie added:-

”Missing out on the play offs which would gave been the minimum the club would have been hoping to get at the start of the season. On top of that to fall down to seventh place is a hard one for the club to take.

”I am not hiding from the responsibility, I have been in the job since January but I will be working hard over the summer to make sure that we kick on next season.”
