No record for Ryan Scully

Ryan Scully was more disappointed to see the Pars run of five wins come to an end than to have his chance if a shut out record come his way. He felt that the team should not get too down on themselves. Yes the run came to an end but he saw that as a new challenge to go on another winning run. He said:-
”I don`t think that we started the game well. Dundee United dominated a bit in the first half, they were lively and pressed very well. We just didn`t get going. Second half was better, we stood up to it more but overall it is disappointing.
”Dundee United had that bit of quality that exposed us, first half they had a few chances but in the second half we limited them to very little.
”We have another game straight away on Friday night which can be the best remedy for us. We will recover, look at what went wrong against Dundee United and hopefully put things right against Ayr.
”You don`t have time to feel sorry for yourselves. Obviously it was a disappointing result but we will go again on Friday. Ayr are the ones who are above us and we know if we get a good result against them, we can pull them back as well.”
A win would put Dunfermline level on points with Ian McCall’s Ayr, a team with just two wins from their last thirteen matches. Ryan stressed even after the set back against Dundee United, the play off spot is what the team is trying hard to achieve:-
”As a player when you go on a run, you get that winning mentality. Getting a result like that takes the wind out of you but Friday us a great chance for us to go again and put in a positive performance against Ayr.”
A sixth clean sheet running would have allowed Ryan to equal Sean Murdoch’s record for the most consecutive league clean sheets. When Peter Pawlett scored in 24 minutes it had been 487 minutes since Michael Gardyne’s winning goal for Ross County but still a bit behind Sean’s achievement in season 2015/16 of 632 minutes without conceding a league goal.
”It was a great run for the lads, it was everyone involved who were trying to get that record but we know if we can keep clean sheets it gives the team a better chance of winning games.”
Chasing an added time equaliser Ryan went up for a late corner encouraging a great roar of encouragement from the fans although possible a surprise to the bench. Ryan added:-
”I knew it was the last moments of the game and I tried to get the attention of the gaffer but he wasnt really looking at me, so I just went for it. The boys got it in front of me, it would gave been nice to score with a header. I was just trying to get something out of the game but it wasn`t to be.
”I think I have done that a few times here but I don`t know why because I have never learned. I have never got anywhere near it!”
