Fire in the Beadling belly
Friday, 25th Jan 2019“We have to be cool headed with fire in the belly but ice in the head. Stay composed but still have that competitive edge.
Tom Beadling is saying that Dunfermline need to be brave going into a match against the team immediately above them in the league and come away with the three points. He said:-
“A win boosts that mood and allows us to push on, gains little bit momentum.
The memory of the bad Starks Park experience has diminished as the week has gone on but not before thoroughly dissected on Monday.
“It is in the past and we have to look forward to the next game on Saturday. It is in the past, we can’t change. All we can do is put all our efforts into the next game coming up.”
Tom agreed that there were some positives to take from Saturday’s Cup tie but reminded everyone that at the end of the day it is all about winning games.
“A three nil defeat is tough to take but we will go again, stick together and see what we can do on Saturday.
“There is a way to channel the hurt, we have to be cool headed with fire in the belly but ice in the head. Stay composed but still have that competitive edge. No rash decisions because that has not helped us in the past.
“We have to approach it right and we will. Then hopefully we will get the three points.”
Tom admitted that the emotions were a total contrast between winning 4-2 in one derby match to losing 3-0 in the next.
“It was the complete opposite. The start of the game was very similar I thought in terms of the crowd and the atmosphere. It was brilliant and I really enjoyed that side of it. Good intense rivalry, coming out the tunnel and seeing both sets of fans. It was a really good atmosphere sadly the result didn’t go our way and our fans didn’t go home happy. We are very very determined to change that outcome on Saturday.”
Tom Beadling made his debut for Dunfermline at Cappielow almost exactly a year ago and he will be hoping to hit the net again after firing his new team ahead midway through the first half in that debut match.
“I would like one, I would like to add to my tally. I got one on the debut, it was a game where I didn’t know what to expect. A year on I am still here and another goal would be good.”
The Pars defeated Morton 3-0 when the team’s last met at East End Park but at Cappielow results are never easy to come by.
“It is tight and they will be at us. I think that it will be a different game, hopefully the end result will be the same.”
Out with injury, Tom had only made three appearances this season before coming on as an 84th minute sub in the last match against Morton. He modestly said:-
“It is not about me. You can’t come away getting defeated every week so things have to change. You can only go on so long saying that you are enjoying it. Getting beat is tough but I am enjoying playing and being back in the team but I will enjoy it more when we start winning.”
Since Stevie Crawford took over Tom has been played into the holding midfield role. The training has stepped up in intensity and there are fresh ideas. He closed:-
“I am more comfortable there and more suited to my game I feel.”
“With the greatest respect, sometimes new ideas and new methods can bring that bit of spark. I think we have found that in training and it is just bringing what we are doing in training into the game is the next step.
“A lot of that comes from Greg, he has been really refreshing since he came in. He likes us to think and drills can really make us think about what we are doing. It is not as straight forward as it always is. We have to think on our feet and that is the best way. It has been sharp and refreshening.”
