Tamson’s bairn’s boost

Bairns really were uppermost in Joe Thomson’s mind last Saturday but his own first child ranked well ahead of Falkirk’s.
The 21 year old midfielder became a dad on the Thursday night before the derby match when his partner Francesca gave birth to a baby boy. Joe left the hospital in the early hours, was straight into training on Friday morning and back for a busy family night. The proud dad claimed that it was Francesca who did not want him to break his run of eight starts for the Pars:-
“My partner has been really supportive of me. She is the one who said to me that she wanted me to go and play because I have had a run in the team. She was eager for me to go back and play, I have to thank her for that.
“It was a brilliant week for me and nice to end it with three points from beating your rivals. Much needed three points but we took our chances and boosted our hopes to move up the table.”
The four goals against Falkirk has increased the belief and confidence in the team claimed Joe who added “It is about us putting the ball in the back of the net, hopefully we can continue that on Saturday.”
Joe scored on his league debut for Dunfermline in August but has failed to find the net again. He scored eleven times over the past two seasons while on loan at Dumbarton and Queen of the South, scoring against Dunfermline for each but he admits that he has not scored as many goals as he would have liked. Happy as long as the team is winning, Joe just needs to be performing to a level that he feels is good enough for him.
“I think my performances still can improve and I will be hoping to add my name to the goal scoring sheet a few times over the next few weeks as well.”
Alloa on Saturday will be formidable opposition and the former Celtic youth predicted:-
“It is not going to be a easy. Alloa is going to be a harder game, I don’t expect Alloa to be as bad as Falkirk were last week. They are a good team, you can see that with their wins over Queen of the South and Dundee United. We have found it tough against them this season and we can expect the same this weekend.”
Alloa are just one of several visiting sides that have come and sat in at East End Park He commented:-
“Obviously it is a sign of respect for us knowing the players that we have got. We have come up with ideas in the last few weeks that have been better and closer to where we want to be. Again we have to push on and it is a game on paper where we are looking for another three points.”
