The 14th minute red card shown to Kallum Higginbotham was certainly a key moment in the match but Allan Johnston felt that things went wrong when his side went behind to a early goal:-
"We have to do a lot better from the setpiece where we lost the goal. They have a lot of height in their team, they put in good deliveries and they attacked it well but when you look at the two goals that we lost it is poor from our point of view.
"Even the second one, it was just the second phase of the corner and we were not tight. That was the difference today. Obviously they had a bit of possession and kept the ball at times to put some dangerous crosses in. It is always going to happen when you are a man less for the majority of the game.
"I thought the boys defended well, created a couple of chances and probably when you come up here and you are down to ten men you have to be clinical and take your chances.
“I am disappointed that we never got more goals from the chances we created. We had to dig in at times because they put us under pressure.
“The important thing was to stay in the game. I have not seen the sending off, it will be interesting to see it but by all accounts it is a sending off. It just puts the whole team under pressure. Obviously I will need to see it again but it looks as though Higgy has let himself down, the fans and the team. He will know that more than anyone.”
Before County scored Robbie Muirhead had a tremendous chance to head in an equaliser, the manager commented:-
“It was virtually a couple of minutes before they scored, it was a really good pass from Mal, Faiss has put a great pass in, Robbie was unlucky with the header. That is the ones that one have to take when you are up against it.
“I couldn’t fault the boys the kept going right to the very end. They scored a good goal and they gave their everything to try and get a result.
“I don’t think that there was much between the teams. Obviously they had a lot of possession and we were a man short but we frustrated them for the majority of the game. There was maybe a five minute period in the first half when they had a couple of chances right through the middle but after that we handled it, we defended well and looked dangerous on the counterattack.”
Another defeat but maybe positives to take out of it?
“It is still frustrating when you are down to ten men. The goals we lost today were really cheap. We cannot afford to let teams, especially teams of the calibre of Ross County score goals as cheaply. We need to tighten up on that but it is always good when you are creating chances and get a goal.”
There were only six subs on the Pars bench on Saturday the manager explained:-
“We have had a few injuries and talking to the Ross County boys before the game, they seem to have a few as well. We are just going through a phase just now, we get one back and another one is back. It is not ideal but that is not an excuse, I still think that we have enough players to come here and play.”
