Ash appy away away away

Pars captain confident away form can continure against County.
“Training has been good and hopefully we can take that into the game on Saturday, go up there and get a positive result.”

Skipper Lee Ashcroft feels that the disappointing last league match at home to Falkirk was typical of the story of his team’s season so far. Dunfermline dominated the derby game only to lose 1-0 to their arch rivals:-

“It is worse with it being a derby, it is a sore one to take especially with them not being in such great form. To come here and beat us after being so dominant in the game was a blow but it has happened to us a couple of times now. We need to put this right sooner rather than later.”

Over the international weekend without a fixture, the Saturday off is being construed as a good thing. The Pars squad have looked sharp in training and are looking forward to the trip to Dingwall to face Ross County.

“We have had quite a few games so the gaffer gave us a couple of days off to go away and chill out. Everybody has come back in looking good.”

As captain Lee has made sure that the last match has been talked out. The squad are in agreement that it wasn’t good enough and the mood was one of frustration.

“We had words after the game and from then we have got on preparing for the next. Training has been good and hopefully we can take that into the game on Saturday, go up there and get a positive result.”

Having scored only three goals in the last five league matches it is clear to all that finding the net has not been happening enough. Lee explained that there has an emphasis on attacking play against defence in training but knows that it is all very well doing it in training:-

“We have to take it into games and it is not just the forwards. I am frustrated because I know that I can do better. I am looking at myself and I’m hoping that I can go up there and get a goal for myself. All the boys are looking to chip in and the strikers are the most frustrated because that’s their game.

“It is not for the lack of chances, if we can go and batter a team that will give boys confidence. We know that we have talented players in our team. We see them finish every day in training, it just not going for us all right now.”

Lee would like to see that change as soon as possible. Travelling away would seem to be an advantage and the skipper feels that if that can continue and the home form can be righted then that would put them back challenging.

“We cannot keep saying that. We need to do that sooner rather than later because we would fall too far behind.

“Ross County are probably one of the better teams that we have played this season. They have some good players and the6 have paid a bit of money to keep boys on from the Prem last year.

“We know that is going to be a tough game but we have been playing better away from home so hopefully we can go up there, get the win and take that into our next two home games.”
