Million Pound Milestone
The Lifeline committee is delighted to note that an outstanding milestone will be achieved in November 2018 when the total donations during the past 5 years to the football club will hit the amazing figure of £1,000,000. Since the re-launch of the Centenary Club as the “Lifeline” in 2013 the members have continued to support the football club in many ways with the Lifeline, in particular, providing an extremely valuable resource to the club.
It perhaps goes a little un-noticed by the supporters of just how important the lifeline funding is. It clearly gives our club an important income stream and, therefore, a competitive advantage over many of our rivals in this league as, quite simply, there is no other club in this league with anything closely comparable to the Lifeline.
However, that doesn’t mean we can be complacent and in these uncertain times as we continue to see a steady trickle of resignations from the Lifeline, all for very good reasons, as members circumstances change. We currently have 900 members which has remained fairly steady over the past 5 years although the numbers are not being added to.
The Centenary Club was established to celebrate the club’s 100th anniversary of its founding in 1885. In the first 30 years the Centenary Club donated around £750,000. To exceed that figure in the last 5 years is extraordinary and hugely appreciated by the football club. DAFC Vice Chairman, Billy Braisby noted:-
“The board of directors are astounded by the passion and support the fans continue to have for this club. There is no doubt that without the Lifeline funds we would have struggled to get this club back on an even keel after 2013. I would also like to say a big thanks to the Lifeline committee, all volunteers, who put in a tremendous about of work behind the scenes.”
It’s useful to note that Lifeline members participate in a Prize Draw at every home league game and are eligible for a discount card where they can claim worthwhile discounts from a range of businesses in the area.
Lifeline Chairman, Ross Lindsay said:-
“I can’t thank our members enough for their resilience and sticking with the Lifeline during these difficult economic times. There is always room for more new members and I would ask our existing members to help recruit new members where they can and help us with our task of raising the next £1,000,000!”
