Andy ready for Alloa test
Friday, 2nd Nov 2018“Given the way we have started the season three points are even more precious now.

Allan Johnston always maintains it is how his side reacts from back to back home defeats that really matters and Andy Ryan felt that the side showed their manager a positive performance.
Heading up the A9 on Tuesday to face an Inverness team unbeaten in this league campaign, many would have considered a point a satisfactory haul. Andy agreed that might have been seen as pretty decent but in the end he was disappointed that it was not three.
“The fact that we went in front twice and we missed a few chances within the game, we can look at it as two points dropped while one gained. We just need to take the point on and move on to Saturday now.”

He agreed that it was important to get back on the goal trail:-
“We were very poor on Saturday and I think that there was a reaction on Tuesday night. We just need to try and find a level of consistency. That is something we have been struggling with this season.”
Two goals from Aidan Keena on his starting debut for Dunfermline had raised the team’s hopes of a win in the north.
“Aidan was out injured for a wee while with a hernia op but in training he has looked lively. He had needed to get a couple of weeks training under his belt but he had waited for his chance and I thought he did very well. He is quick and he is a willing runner to go in behind. He did well on Tuesday night.

“We have a few strikers battling away for those spots upfront. The manager has chopped and changed trying to find his front two. Whoever that might be just has to make sure that they are on the team sheet on a Saturday.”
The 24 year old has not played as much for Dunfermline as he would have liked. This season he has made 17 appearances but made just 8 starts. Last season he made 23 appearances including just 9 starts from a possible 42 after joining from Airdrie on 14 August 2017. He admitted:-
“I have come here I have been in and out of the team. That could partly down to my side not performing as well as I could have been. The last month or so I have scored a couple of goals but I am just trying to do my best for the team.

“It is just one of those things in football, if you don’t get selected you just have to get your head down and keep working hard.”
Only a sub in the league match against Alloa Athletic earlier this season, Andy played the full 90 minutes in the Irn Bru Cup tie just three weeks ago. He continued:-
“We have had a couple of difficult games against them already this season. We know what to expect, they will be hard to beat especially on their narrow pitch. They will be stuffy but they have good players who can play a bit.”

Andy stressed that three points are badly needed from the trip to the Indodrill Stadium:-
“Given the way we have started the season three points are even more precious now. We got one on Tuesday night but we need to build on that now and try and get all three on Saturday.”
Asked if Aidan had stopped talking about his 35 yards strike at Inverness on Tuesday night Andy quipped:-
“I would still be talking about it if I had scored it!” He admired his striking partners contribution, “it was a great strike, you can see that he is sharp and quick in and around the box. He is not scared to put himself about and done well since he came in. He showed that he can score from distance as well, it was a pretty good strike.“
