Finlay`s Friends awareness match
Tuesday, 23rd Oct 2018Awareness day for Finlay`s Friends.
Dunfermline Athletic are pleased to welcome Finlay`s Friends to Saturday`s match against Dundee United as an awareness day for the charity.
Prior to the match the DAFC players will wear Finlay`s Friends t-shirts during the warm up as well as feature Finlay in the match programme and pre match announcements.
Finlay’s Friends is a charitable organisation set up in memory of Finlay Bennett, of Dunfermline, who died suddenly on the 30th July 2014 from Meningitis at the Yorkhill Children’s Hospital, now the Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Glasgow. He attended Touch Primary School and was a Young Par. Finlay was only 8 years old but in his short life he had always put the needs of others before himself. To honour his kindness and to support other families who experience similar situations to Finlay’s family, Finlay’s Friends aims to provide support when it is most needed.
Finlay’s Friends provides Comfort Kits to families of seriously ill children admitted to hospital in an emergency, as well as additional support including portable phone chargers, useful information for the hospital stay, emotional support contacts, resources for the hospital family rooms and more. We currently support the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow and the Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Edinburgh. Ultimately our aim is for Finlay’s Friends to support all Scottish Children’s Hospitals.
