Longridge commends Lions lesson in Dobbie taming

Pars defender Jackson Longridge faced Queen of the South last season. He played in all four of Livingston’s league games and Stephen Dobbie did not score in any of them. The 23 year old acknowledged that Dobbie is a good player and advised:- “We will just need to keep an eye on him and stop him from scoring.

“He is an experienced player, he has done it throughout his career and he is a really good player, a good finisher. We will just need to try and figure out a way to stop him scoring. I will just need to follow him about” joked Jackson.

“At Livingston we had a man man-mark him, our tactics were spot on against him because he couldn’t really get involved in the game. As soon as we isolated him, that was the drive to go forward and win.

“Their team revolves around him so Keaghan Jacobs man-marked him out of the game. Our tactics will stay the same and try and play, do as we have been doing. We will be going forward to score more goals than he does.

“Playing against him you discover that he is smart and you could say that he should be playing at a higher level. He is comfortable where he is and he has found a place where he is scoring a lot of goals and getting game time.

“I don’t know the reason why he has stayed at Queens but he is a big asset to him.”

With back to back league wins over Partick Thistle and Falkirk, the inability to get past Alloa Athletic in the Irn Bru Cup means Jackson and his Dunfermline team mates are keen to return to winning form against Queen of the South this weekend.

“The league is the most important thing, we will take each game as it comes and just try to build points. We need to maintain that winning mentality. I felt that we were doing that until that slip up in the cup. We need to get back to doing the things that we have been doing.

“I felt that there was a bit of pressure on us in the Falkirk game because of the rivalry. It was my first time playing in the derby but I felt that it was a good game and it should have built the confidence going into the cup.

“But we should have won that cup game and we were just unlucky with the penalties. That is past us now and I feel that we should go into this game with confidence. It is game that we will be hoping to win.”
