Pars boss Allan Johnston felt that his side “shot themselves in the foot”, he told the media:-
“After being so much in control they got a goal out of nothing. It was just the keeper hoisting it up the pitch. We have mistimed it and obviously they got a goal from it. It was an individual mistake but we shouldn’t be having to score three goals to win a game against Alloa, no disrespect, at home.
“We have to defend better than what we did. Obviously the goals from our points of view were really slack. We can afford to give people time on the box to get turned. We have defended well recently so it was disappointing.
“We worked hard to get two goals, two really good goals to be fair and we should win the game. It is as simple as that.
“We had enough of the play and we had enough chances. So it is really frustrating not to win.
“We have had a lot of clean sheets recently, so we are disappointed to lose poor goals especially having been in such a good position. It was one way traffic. It was just chance after chance and obviously we were penning them in. To lose a goal lack that is frustrating.”
The manager felt that it should not have got to stage of penalties:-
“When it gets to penalties it is a lottery. It was a really good save from the keeper. He (Aidan Connolly) hit it well. He put a lot of power in it but the keeper did well. We should have been out of sight by that time.
“We need to get back on track, next is another massive game in the league (v Queen of the South), that is the priority but it would have been nice to get a run in the cup as well.”
