Tom Beadling hopeful of a return to first team football in the Irn Bru Cup

Tom Beadling’s only appearance this season was the first 64 minutes of the Irn Bru Challenge Cup tie in Inverness. The 22 year old signed for Dunfermline after a spell on loan from Sunderland for the second half of last season, picked up an injury in the derby win over Falkirk on 7th April.

He feels that he has seen a great show of faith in him from Dunfermline and he appreciates that. He said:-

“It has been a long long time but I have had a good few weeks training and just to be back with the boys is nice. It has been hard work getting my sharpness back but I have enjoyed it.

“I have watched a lot of games from the stand and as a footballer that is probably one of the worst things to do. I did not enjoy that at all, it was very frustrating. It didn’t really get better, if anything it got worse.

“You just want to be out there playing. That is why I came here. I have to work hard and keep my head down. Get myself back to where I was at full fitness.”

The Barrow born midfielder had been at Sunderland since the age of eight but the opportunity to play first team football attracted him north. His first comeback at Inverness proved to be too soon so he has eased himself back in reserve team football and now feels ready. He added:-

“It has been a long time out and I am just making sure that I do everything right just so that I can stay back now I’m back. I have been working hard off the pitch with the physios and Gary McCall’s Sports Science team so thanks to them and touch wood everything is good.”

Tom admits that it would be nice to get back on a pitch and for the Alloa match he has a good chance, especially at home in front of fans.

“It is all that I have wanted, to get back out there so we will see what happens.” The player confirmed that have got so far in the Irn Bru Cup the team is it it for the win:-

“We want to win it. We had the long trip in the last round so we might as well make the most of it. We have been up to Inverness and down to Borehamwood, we have done it properly so we might as well do it the whole way.”
