Pars manager Allan Johnston felt that his side were the better passing team in the first half. He told the media:-
“Thistle are a good team, they have a lot of top quality players and I thought the boys showed a lot of courage, getting on the ball and obviously second half were worthy winners.”
He agreed that the win could have been more comfortable had Aidan Connolly’s good chance to add a second not come back off the goalpost:-
“That has probably been the story of the last couple of weeks. We have been in really good positions and sometimes the final ball needs that wee bit of luck and tonight we got it. It comes from wide players getting in the box but there were a lot of good performances as well right throughout the whole team and they showed what it meant to them by the way they battled towards the end when obviously you are under a bit of pressure.”
The win relieves the pressure a little but AJ felt that the win had been coming:-
“Even last week we should have won, we have been defending better. Obviously we have been talking about that cutting edge upfront. We had chances again tonight but we will score goals because we have good players. You can see the creativity that we have got.
“Guys like Aidan Connolly, I know that he scored the goal but he takes the ball under pressure, he keeps the ball, he is creative. Andy Ryan again was different class upfront leading the line. You can see the quality that we have got going forward.
“Louis Longridge, second half and Faiss throughout the whole game I thought dropped into good areas to cause them problems. Going forward I thought we were good and passed the ball well.
“I am just delighted for the boys. Sometimes you can see a bit of frustration just with the results but they showed character to get on the ball and do the right things, they got their rewards in the end.”
Another clean sheet
“In this league we saw last year that it is important that you get a foundation, you defend well and it is great to see Lee Robinson make the save at the end there. He was criticised at the weekend so it is great to see people react in the way that he has reacted.”
