Dunfermline Athletic

Thanks from the Chairman

Sunday, 9th Sep 2018

DAFC Chairman, Ross McArthur thanks the Pars Fans for their support of our team.

Following yesterday’s match against Boreham Wood, I had to take this opportunity to acknowledge all of the Pars supporters who travelled to the game.

Our fans will have gone to considerable expense to travel south, and their efforts cannot be taken for granted, so on behalf of the Board, the management team and players I would like to thank you for your support and loyalty, it is greatly appreciated. I am aware of so many great stories of how our fans travelled to the game, including the “DASC Sleeper” and it is fantastic to see the camaraderie and togetherness we have at our club.

When the draw was made we knew we would lose money from the tie, however we were determined to remain philosophical about it. We embraced the chance to play a club from another country as it was clear from an easily stage that the fans welcomed this fresh opportunity too.

Although naturally important, football is not all about finances, it is about providing supporters with an opportunity to follow their team with genuine pride and create their own memories of an unique trip.

Finally, I would also like to thank a number of other people. Billy Hunter and his colleagues at Boreham Wood FC for their help and hospitality, in the run up to the match. It was great to hear Billy tell me last night that their staff had been really impressed with our supporters.

We wish Boreham Wood FC well for the future. I would also like to thank once again our friends at Bay Travel for their support with coach travel for our supporters. Also, I would like to acknowledge Vice Chairman, Billy Braisby’s considerable efforts pulling together all of the travel arrangements for yesterday, as it was not an easy task with England playing Spain only a few miles away.

Thank you very much once again for your support.

COYP!!!

Ross McArthur
Chairman
