Myles Meadow Park re-union

“The people that were at Borehamwood on Saturday are the ones who have supported me since I was very young.”

The 23 year old Dunfermline winger Myles Hippolyte had a happy return on Saturday to his roots in North London. It required penalties to settle the outcome and Myles said that his team mates would have loved to open up and score a few goals:-

“That would have been perfect but the main thing is we got back to winning ways. To keep a clean sheet is massive for us, it`s exactly what we needed after conceding the goals we have in recent games. Hopefully this game helps us build up some momentum again.

“The penalties were quality from all the boys, nobody missed and Robbo was trying his hardest to put off boys which he does well, especially in training. It didn’t work on Saturday but I’m sure another time it will.”

The team flew down to Heathrow on Friday, were bussed to Elstree where they stayed overnight enjoying both dinner and the pre match brunch. Myles felt that would have a really good affect on team understanding.

“Stuff like that is always really positive. Everyone has enjoyed the trip down, we`ve done a bit of bonding and even just being together at the hotel and building more of a camaraderie is ideal. The trip has been perfect, especially with what has gone on recently in terms of our results.”

After the match Myles was last man into the dressing room having spent a long time re-uniting with family and friends who had joined the Pars support behind the goal. He explained:-

“It was good to be back in London - well, the outskirts anyway. It`s something that I`ve missed. I enjoyed the game but the result was the main thing for us. I met up with my dad, my brother, my cousins and some really good friends that I haven`t seen for maybe three years and they were able to come and watch me. It was a good occasion in that way.”

Myles claimed that his dad, Michael, has always been a huge part in his career and his brother Michael’s too:-

“Anything I ever needed when I was younger - training, coaching, whatever - he was there for me, and it was the same with my brother. The people that were at Borehamwood on Saturday are the ones who have supported me since I was very young.”

The young Hippolyte began his career as a schoolboy at Harrow Youth League side Westway in London. He also had brief spells at Fulham, Queens Park Rangers and Reading before joining the youth ranks at League One club Brentford in 2010. No surprise then that Myles had come across a few of the Boreham Wood team in the earlier part of his career.

He engaged in conversation with Jamal Fyfield at the end of the match, they had met before but admitted not as a good friend. Myles noticed second half sub Joshua Umerah while at Charlton and said a stand out at QPR was Àngelo Balanta, one of three Boreham Wood players injured in Tuesday night’s National League win over Chesterfield who missed the Irn Bru Cup tie.

Myles, a Challenge Cup winner before in 2015 while at Livingston, knows the kind of tough competition it can be, he continued:-

“I`m looking forward to the teams that we are going to come up against. We will have a look when the draw is done, however, the league is the priority for us, to get points on the board and climb up that table to where we desperately need to be come the end of the season.”
