Another Martin at East End

Friday, 31st Aug 2018

Nice man says “I have scored some nice goals in my career, I hope I can have some nice ones here.”

Malaury Martin arrived on loan from Hearts on a Friday 31 August. The 30 year old Frenchman told this website that Hearts had told him about Dunfermline’s interest and his answer straightaway was ‘yes’.

“I need to be back into competition. I knew it was a good club and it was a good opportunity for me. I was not in the plans of Craig Levein so for me the most important thing was to get back on the pitch.”

Malaury played against Dunfermline in last season’s Betfred Cup tie at Tynecastle and that seemed to form his opinion of the Pars:-

“I think this club is famous in Scotland and that is one part of the reason why I came here.”

The player would not describe how he would play, preferring to show on the park what he is capable of.

“The most simple answer to that is on the pitch. I hope for sure that we will have some great success and fight for the objective of the club. That is the most important thing and I hope I will contribute to this objective.”

Malaury plays in midfield and he claimed that his most influential position would depend upon the formation and the way the team plays.

“In my career I have played many different tactics so it will depend on where the gaffer needs me. Wherever that is I will give my best. Obviously I like to touch a lot of the ball and contribute to play forward for the team. This is me and it does not matter if it is more fancy, or more defensive. At the moment I play centrally.

“I have scored some nice goals in my career, I hope I can have some nice ones here.”

Malaury trained with his new team mates for the first time on Friday, he described that as good.

“Because we are one day before a game, the legs need to be fresh for tomorrow but it is nice to be with the ball, meet the boys, my new partner and let the new adventure begin.

“To be honest I don’t know the players here but I will be quick to know the lads and have some new friends.”

Allan Johnston talked about his new midfielder:-

“Obviously he has not really played much over the last period. Hearts have allowed him to come, train and try and get some game time. He has a good pedigree, has a lot of qualities and hopefully he can force his way into the team and be a big player for us.

“He is a midfielder, he is creative, he is a really good passer and good technical player. He can find the pass to the strikers. If he has people run game ahead of him then he is capable of finding that pass.”

Allan Johnston feels that when you examine the clubs that Malaury has been at - AS Monaco, Middlesbrough, Lausanne and Lillestrom - he has a first class pedigree:-

“He seems really keen. It is up to him to come in, impress and do well. It is good to get him on board and hopefully he gives us something different from what we already got. His quality is undoubted, we just need to get him up to speed.”
