Matty Todd signs for Dunfermline
Friday, 25th May 2018The former Dunfermline High School pupil plays anywhere in midfield
Matty Todd who will be 17 next month was delighted to be one of six players moving up from Fife Elite. He explained his progress with the club:-
“I started with Dunfermline seven years ago after turning down Celtic’s offer. It was Stephen Wright who signed me up.
“It will be tough but I’m sure that I will enjoy it. I hope to kick on and impress the manager, Potts and Sandy and try and make a breakthrough.
“Last season I played nearly every 20s game that they had. The gaffer said that I impressed in pretty much all of them.”
Matty scored Dunfermline’s second goal in the Fife Cup tie against Burntisland, a match that was subsequently abandoned when Aaron Splaine suffered a nasty leg injury.
“The hard work starts now, I am delighted that it is over with and I can just kick on and try and make an impact during pre season. I will have to try and use my matches in reserves to impress the manager.”
Matty has been in and around the club during school holidays and said that he knows to expect high intensity training:-
“It is a lot quicker that it used to be at Fife Elite. It will be tough to start off with but I am sure that I will cope.”
