Beadling’s about for next two seasons
Monday, 21st May 2018“I wasn’t lying when I said I enjoyed it here, and I want to do well here.â€
Tom Beadling was looking to return to Dunfermline even before last season finished so he was very happy to make the move from Sunderland by signing a two year deal at the club. He told the media today that he had no hesitation to pledging his future to the Championship club:-
“Yes, it’s nice to get it over the line and done and dusted, and I can look forward to next season now. There were a few things came in but, to be honest, I wasn’t lying when I said I enjoyed it here, and I want to do well here.â€

He was attracted back to Dunfermline because of the prospect of regular first team football mainly, again:-
“I enjoyed playing here and I played every minute when I was fit, so that was the main attraction. But it was also the players, who are good lads, and the fans, just everything about it, I enjoyed it, and that shows in me coming back.â€

Tom Beadling has been at Sunderland for 14 years from the age of eight. He grew up as a season-ticket holder supporting the club and has done all his life.
Nevertheless Tom did not feel it too much of a wrench to be leaving such a big club as Sunderland, he claimed that it had been something in his mind for a while, so it wasn’t too hard a decision to make. He explained:-
“It’s something that’s been in the pipeline since I came up here, so it wasn’t too much of an issue. It’s about the next chapter and moving on. It’s a fresh start, fresh scenery, and about getting out and playing some games, that’s what I wanted.

“It didn’t quite happen for me at Sunderland, but I’ve no regrets and I’m here now. There’s a lot going on there at the minute and I really hope they get it sorted and get back to where they belong.â€
An injury to his left thigh ruined the end of the season for Tom and he confessed:-
“It was hard to watch those games. We were unlucky in the end, but there’s definitely unfinished business for both me and the club.â€

His manager Allan Johnston was delighted to win the race for Tom Beadling’s signature, he added:-
“I thought he did brilliantly when he came in. He’s really only played first-team football since he came here and I think since he got into the team he started improving.
“You could see the difference in him, but I still expect a lot more from him. I think he’s got a lot more potential to give and he’s got the attitude to match that as well. I’m sure he’ll be a massive player for us next season, especially if he keeps progressing.â€
Tom’s injury has healed and the 22 year old midfielder signed off:
“It’s fine now. I’ve been working on it and it’s feeling good. I’ll be ready to go for pre-season - raring to go.â€
