Fraser not ready for early finish to season
Tuesday, 1st May 2018“We play at home first, so hopefully we can take a good result up there and know what we have to do in the second-leg.”
Fraser Aird feels that he is hitting form at the right time.
“I’ve got myself into the team and I’ve kept myself in the team, and it’s always nice to chip in with assists and goals. We’ve had a good run-in to get into the play-offs. we’ve not been beaten in 10 games and we had four wins in a row before drawing at Inverness and then winning to secure our place in the play-offs on Saturday there.”
Fraser hopes that the team can take that form into the play-offs and is well aware that it’s up to players to deliver.
“We’ve got a big game at home on Tuesday and hopefully we can take a good result with us to the game on Friday night.
“All the boys are confident. Everyone knows we started the season well and we were scoring goals and creating a lot of chances. Then we took a dip, but now it looks like we’re back to where we were at the start of the season.
“That’s what you want, to create chances and we have the players in our team to take those chances. That’s what you need coming into the play-offs. One goal could be the difference.
“We’re happy, but we need to keep doing what we’re doing. There’s no point taking our foot off the gas, because we know that if we don’t win we go home.
“They will be interesting games against Dundee United. Obviously, they’re doing well, they got themselves into the play-offs. We’re looking forward to the games and hopefully we can take advantage of what we’re good at and score some goals.
Dunfermline have proved recently at Tannadice that they can more than match Dundee United and done well against Livingston too this season. They must feel that they have a good chance of progressing:-
“We need to take each game as it comes, one game at a time, so we need to take care of the game on Tuesday and hopefully take a lead up to Dundee United.
“We’ve not really done the best against Dundee United, but going by our last game we matched them. We know what they’re capable of and we know what we can do against them.
“We just need to take our form into the game. It doesn’t matter who we play in our league, I think we have the players to go on and challenge to try to get to the Premiership. It’s easy saying that, we need to go and do it. But we’re in the best form possible going into the fixtures and hopefully we can show that.
“I’ve been in the play-offs before with Rangers and then with Falkirk last year. If you don’t win, you go home and your season is finished. So, you don’t want to look too far ahead.
“We need to look at what Dundee United are good at and try to stop them and then do what we’re good at - get the ball forward, attack, get balls into the box and get service to our strikers, because we know when we do that they can score goals.”
