Pars gaffer, Allan Johnston was disappointed with the defeat away from home against league leaders St Mirren, he said:-

“It always is when you get beat. I actually thought that we started the game alright, we started quite brightly but fair play to St Mirren, they came into the game and I thought they dominated the first half without creating a lot of clear cut opportunities.

“Second half we came out and weathered the storm. We started brightly and created a couple of opportunities for ourselves. Then we had what was probably the best opportunity of the game but that has been the story of our season, we have not taken our chance. They go up the pitch and get a penalty.”

The chance referred to fell to James Craigen when he hit the sidenetting.

“It was a great chance but we have to hit the target, we have to score. To be honest when you get chances like that against good teams you have got to be clinical. We are really disappointed with that and then the goal from our point of view was disappointing.

“The boys were saying it might have been a foul on Jason Talbot but is is difficult to see on the video.”

Jason was sent off, Harry Davis scored from the resultant penalty and Saints increased their lead just three minutes later.

“You could not fault the players, they kept on going right to the very end. They gave all that they have got but we need to make sure that we are ready for the next game now.”

The travelling support made their feelings thought when striker Declan McManus was sub by centre half, Callum Morris. The Pars gaffer explained the thinking behind the substitution:-

“Obviously we did not want to lose any more goals but we were trying to change the shape a wee bit to see if we could get a bit of joy from that as well. We started getting Ryan Williamson forward but more and sometimes it has got to be done.”
